Indian Rugs
India has a large history of production of flooring and rugs. It has developped into two major areas: Varanasi and Jaipur. Varainsi has a large variation in the quality. There are some workshops that make beautiful rugs with over 250 knots per square inch and there are other ones that make cheap quality rugs with only 40-50 knots per square inch. These workshops make rugs from a few square feet to large area rugs. Most of these rugs have custom Indian designs that seperate them from their persian and oriental counterparts.
Vartasanti
Varasanti rugs are more mass produced and are less expensive. However, variations of quality are possible from this newly industrialized area of the world.
Jaipur
Jaipur still produces mostly handmade rugs. These rugs have a very fine quality and the designs are beautiful. There is a signifigant price on these rugs.
